We at ABFRL, present excerpts from our internal newsletter “InTouch”, where we celebrate stories of our people, their success stories and their contributions.
In this new series, we detail those top 5 prized possessions that drive our employees to peak performance, especially laid out on their desk. In this edition, we catch up with Rohan Pawar Manager, Central Procurement Cell, Pantaloons (..and a recent “Emerging Leader” award winner at PACE 2024!), who takes us through the five essentials laid out on his desk that drive him through the workday.
Meet Rohan Pawar, a key member of the team that drives the set up of Pantaloons facilities. A resident busy bee of the Pantaloons Central Procurement Cell, his desk is forever populated by members of his team, a testament to the collaborative style he loves to champion on the job.
However, his desk is also home to an interesting assortment of items, both personal and professional tools, that drive him to ‘peak performance’ as he likes to call it. Let’s explore the lay of the land and give you a glimpse into his prized possessions!
Boxing Gloves
A passionate boxer since the 6th Standard, the sweet science has been a key part of his life for decades now. Rohan has been a key competitor in the ring, rising to bouts (and winning several) at Maharashtra State Level Tournaments. Having hung up his gloves a while ago, it still isn’t a part of his life he’s left behind. Today, those gloves occupy a place of pride on his desk, reminding him of the drive and dedication he showed in the ring.
“Seeing those gloves hung up on my desk gives me the motivation to perform here like I do on the job. It’s a reminder of my glory days and something that lets me know I’ve taken bigger hits than anything that could be dealt to me here.”
New Development Samples
Rohan’s forever keyed into the latest innovations in terms of store and warehouse infrastructure and design. Don’t believe us? Just look at the samples strewn across his desk! Lighting bulbs, smoke detectors, paint swatches, pictures of security systems etc. populate most of the area in his abode. However, don’t you dare take the chance to call it haphazard or unorganized, he swears he has a system in place (visible only to the trained eye, we’re sure).
Smiley Ball
A key tool of the job and perhaps something that’s the most essential – the classic smiley yellow foam ball. Whenever stress takes center stage, he uses the ball as a focus tool to squeeze and channel the negative energy away. Always a good idea, everyone should be taking notes.
Drawing Vermeer Scale
Precision is a key point for his position. “Judging by eye is simply something I cannot do in this business. The decisions I take here will affect 100s of employees at our stores and warehouses, so I have to get it right. Having my Vermeer Scale at hand minimizes error which in turn minimizes risk. It’s essential.”
Trust us, Rohan, we’re all thankful to your mantra – stay precise, stay on point!
Diet Food
As a former athlete, fitness continues to be a passion for Rohan, who runs atleast 10 kms a day and 25 kms on the weekends. When hunger strikes, he prefers to keep it light. At any given time, one can find an assortment of dried fruits, makhana, protein-rich snacks and other oil-free foods at all times. Another major reason why we always find his team members at his desk at all times, we’re sure.
Cricket Bat & Ball
This one’s more personal; we at ABFRL Mumbai Office recently lost the office-complete cricket tournament despite playing well and reaching the final, where Rohan led one of our teams as captain. Seeing this bat reminds him to stay fit and on fire, to win the next tournament and bring more honor to ABFRL.
We’re all thankful to this noble pursuit and we’re all rooting for you to succeed this time, Rohan!
