Inspirational Journeys of Power Women at ABFRL

In this special series, we present to you the professional journeys of women leaders at ABFRL to recognize the impact that they have created and become role models in their own right.

Every journey of women in leadership, whether personal or professional, has the power to inspire several individuals to chase their dreams and work towards being the best version of themselves. These journeys serve as a constant reminder that, come what may, when a woman decides to make something happen, she will. Suffice it to say, the power to bring about a positive change truly resides in each one of them. As we ready ourselves to celebrate the perpetual victory of good energy this festive season, let us take a few moments to celebrate the victories of the power women at ABFRL!

1. Scaling Greater Heights through Grit

Richa Pai, COO at Allen Solly, is a go-getter who believes in the unbeatable combination of intuition and sheer hard work.  A chemical engineer, her inclination toward the business side of things led her to pursue an MBA in International Business.

She started off her career as a Management Trainee at Madura, her first role in Peter England as the first Area Retail Operations Manager for the network. The next few years saw Richa take on several challenging roles at Aditya Birla Retail Ltd, where she was involved in Store roll outs, setting up and running space planning and replenishment systems, and ultimately leading a multifaceted buying and negotiation team. Returning to Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd she helmed leadership roles at Planet Fashion and Van Heusen. In her current role, as COO, she hopes to build Allen Solly as a stellar future-forward brand, run by a happy fulfilled team.

2. Building fascinating career growth paths

Kalpana BG, Vice President, HR, Madura Clothing, ABFRL, is deeply value-oriented and derives her impeccable work ethic from the ABG values. A student of Journalism, Literature, and Psychology, she holds a Masters degree in Industrial Psychology and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations. For over three decades, she has been working as an HR professional, and eight of those have been with ABG. She believes her greatest achievements so far have been vibrant employee engagement and congenial industrial relations. Under her leadership, ABFRL received the “India Green Manufacturing Challenge” in 2021-22. She was also instrumental in ABFRL winning a special award for “Workplace Gender Diversity” from IRIM in September 2022. She continues to work toward the success of the Organization and its employees and advises next-generation female leaders to move forward and develop a “never give up” attitude.

3. Opening a Window to The World of Opportunities

Aarti Achhpillia, HR (BCoE, Learning, Talent, Young Talent Management, and Organization Effectiveness) at ABFRL, empowers employees to harness their untapped potential with a plethora of learning & development opportunities. She earned her Bachelors degree in Science with a specialization in Life Sciences and Biochemistry. She has completed her MBA from GlobalNxt University. In her professional experience spanning 28 years, she has taken up challenging roles across diverse industries such as Tech, Financial Services and retail. She dabbled in sales, customer services, technical training and the HR function. In her stint at ABG, she was actively involved with Gyanodaya – Aditya Birla Global Center of Leadership Learning, to manage culture and outreach interventions, functional academies, and accelerated leadership programs. At ABFRL, she spearheads learning, talent OE and Youth talent Management. She believes in the power of self-awareness and  encourages her team in the pursuit of excellence.

The women of today are defying all odds to chase their dreams. Not only have they achieved immense success in their chosen fields, but through their professional journeys, they have inspired many others to venture into newer arenas. The modern woman has an attitude to take risks, be bold and venture into the unknown with fierceness, and we, at ABFRL, salute their grit and determination.
